Spoon Rest: In The Groove

I really love creating this deeply grooved carving pattern. I first sketched on 5 parallel "latitude" lines to act as guides for the carving. Then I use my deep V carver and carefully follow the sketched on lines to place the start and stop of each carved mark around the same latitude of the pot. It can be quite meditative, and when using a flowy glaze that plays well with texture like this one, it can create a really striking design.
